I own a business too. Mine runs on software I designed and built.
Kansas City businessman since the mid '80s. I signed the front of the checks and some days I was the fry cook. Today my company runs on more than half a million lines of code I designed and built with AI, without ever typing a line. I'd like to buy you lunch and hear what's slowing you down.
My treat. Bring your questions and leave the pitch deck to someone else. You'll walk away with a few ideas either way.
A few things I hear from owners around town
- Somebody types the same order into two systems.
- There's a spreadsheet only one person understands, and they're thinking about retiring.
- You pay for software every month and use a quarter of it.
- The quoting tool, the accounting system and the schedule all live in different worlds.
- Invoices go out late because somebody has to pull it all together by hand.
If any of that rings a bell, my guess is there's a fix that costs a lot less than you'd think.
The part of AI most owners haven't seen yet
Most people meet AI as a chat box. Handy, sure. The bigger opportunity is real software, built to fit your business, designed by someone who knows what an owner needs and built quickly with AI. People call it vibe coding. I call it how I run my company.
Rebuild the tool you settle for.
The app your team complains about can be rebuilt to work exactly the way your people work.
Get your systems talking.
Quoting, scheduling, inventory, accounting. Systems that were never meant to talk to each other can be connected.
Make what you have 10x better.
Often you can keep what works and build the missing pieces around it.
If I had to go out on a limb, I'd say most of this lands around ten cents on the dollar compared to the way software used to get built.
Owner to owner
I've been building businesses in Kansas City since the mid '80s. I've worked every seat in a company, from signing the front of the checks to filling in as the fry cook.
My agency work added up to $333 million in capitalized billings. In 2018 I took a business through a hard reset and brought it back to $24 million in capitalized billings in 2021 with half the staff.
I live at 58th and Ward Parkway, I watch the Chiefs on Sundays, and I'd rather talk shop with another owner than just about anything.

Easy to start, easy to walk away
Lunch. You talk, I listen, and I share a few ideas. There's nothing to sign.
One workflow. If something's worth fixing, we look at a single process together.
I build with security in mind from the first line.
Fair questions
I don't even know what's possible.
That's what lunch is for. Most owners I talk to are in the same spot. Tell me what drives you crazy and I'll tell you what I think could be done about it.
Will this replace my people?
The goal is to take the retyping and chasing off their plate so they can do the work you hired them for. Survey data points the same way: most small businesses using AI say it adds to their team rather than replacing anyone.
Your clients probably need a guy like me
You see the reports that take three people a week to pull together, and the systems that don't line up at month end. I can usually turn those things around fast. If you'd like a builder you can bring to a client, let's get lunch and compare notes.

Pick a spot, tell me a little about your business, and I'll reach out. Bring your toughest system headache. You'll leave with ideas either way.
Thank you. I've got your note.
I'll get back to you personally, usually within a business day. If it's easier, you can also email me at trae@nunninkft.com.
